Last 2019 entry for fishing and cross country

Sweet sixteen for Conner!  He asked if he could cook breakfast on a campfire stove in the backyard, and go fishing at Marvin Hunt's property.  Yes, and yes!

Here is a cool shot of him taken by a scout leader during a float trip on the Niangua River in Missouri.  It was quite an adventure, complete with a canoe getting hopelessly stuck in the river.

Dad got to join in on this one.  Conner got his own kayak for the whole trip, so there aren't any pictures of the two adventurers together.

Carson continues his exciting first year with the Free St High cross country team.  He was bumped up to varsity when an older runner got injured.  It has placed him with some very strong athletes and some real competition.

The last weekend of October, the team went to Junction City, KS for regionals and won the meet!  Here are the seven runners and two alternates.  State is coming up, and they have a real shot at winning it all.

The boys took our friend Darby Bates fishing at one of their long time local spots, Mary's Lake.  Darby is such a great kiddo, and the boys both enjoyed sharing some outdoor activities with him.

These two have been pretty good buddies for a long time.  Remember this pic?

Conner and Dad took Darby out for sushi dinner after the day on the lake.  Both boys were very brave in trying uncommon menu items like squid!
