Harvey's Lake 2012

Hiya!  Time to document our annual pilgramage to northeast Pennsylvania.  Last year was our family's 100th year at Harvey's Lake.  The CNMs started the second 100 years in style.  ...with a big splash, you might say.

One of their favorite activities of the week:  the little row boat.  They were allowed to co-captain it without adult participation, which is probably why it was one of their favorite activities.

It is always a full house for at least a portion of our week.  Here are all the KS cousins minus the oldest and the youngest.  They are enjoying some very rare tv time.

Fishing!  Both boys love it.  They caught blue gill, sunfish and a couple large mouth bass.  Conner caught one fish with no bait and another with no pole!!  Just a net!!

Just a short hike up the "mountain" behind the house is a tennis oasis in the forest.  A neighbor maintains it and says we can use it anytime they aren't.  Carson just finished tennis camp, and his form shows it, wouldn't you agree?

Another surprise in the woods is our high-quality (but 60+ years old) shuffleboard court.  In the game pictured above, Carson and Grandma beat Conner and Daddy 62 to 7.  Ouch.

Now here is a sneaky way to teach the boys how to dive!!  Nice form, Conner.

We try not to feed the Canadian geese too much because boy do they make our lake front a mine field!  But they are fun to see, and this flock is run by a white goose that made fast friends with the CNMs.

One of the most special parts of Harvey's Lake is our time with the New York Marshes.  Amanda is the only one pictured here. We didn't have Geoff, Dianna or Tina this year.  The boys still call them the "Yew Nork Marshes," which we think is classic.

All in all, a fantastic trip.  Never went much over 85 degrees, which was a wonderful respite from the 100+ degree summer we're suffering in KS.  Conner heads with Grandma to fossil camp soon, and Carson gets a Harry Potter emersion at the Lawrence Arts Center.  Hope you are staying cool!!
