Camp Birchwood for Conner

Happy Summer, everyone!  For most of the month of June, Conner has been off at Camp Birchwood in the boundary waters of Minnesota.

This is the camp run by the Bredemus family, who lives part of the year in Lawrence.  You can bet there has been some fishing going on!

The last two summers, Conner and Carson have both been at camp for the first two weeks of June.  This year Conner is going solo, and he is staying for four weeks!

The four week session is part of a leadership training regiment that has him helping the counselors.  We figure this is probably a proving ground to see if these kids are counselor material.

We miss this dude bigtime!  The past sessions of camp that were two weeks long are the only times either boy has been gone for more than a week.

There is no doubt that he is loving it.  Great people, great campground, and he told us because he is part of the leadership group, he gets a fancier sleeping cabin!!

The past two years, the water has been a little cold for their usual lake activities.  This looks fun, right?  Quite an action shot.

For the first time in over ten years, Conner will miss our Harvey's Lake trip.  That is a total bummer, but it is nice to know that he is at about the same latitude enjoying some great activities.

Things have been going well back home, as we peruse the cool pictures that the camp posts online.  Carson has been running at 7am every morning with the high school track team, and serving as a youth counselor for a parks and rec day camp in town.  Pictures of him will have to wait for the next entry!

No cell phone service or even internet for the boys at camp, so we rely on the pictures and a letter or two from his counselors.  Can't wait to see him in July!!
