Frist day of school for the boys

Conner and Carson had their first day of preschool yesterday! They will go two mornings a week, at a school just four blocks from home. Pretty exciting stuff. The first day went very well, especially considering that Conner came down with a cold the night before. His first in several months! What are the odds...

They are in the same class, but the class gets split in two groups almost every day, and they'll be in seperate groups. We did this on purpose, because starting in January, Conner will move on to a pre-kindergarten class that meets at a different time. These boys have spent almost every waking moment together the last two years, so it's time to instill some independence!

The boys were very proud of their cool backpacks and boxes. Check out the custom-designed bulldozer lids that Mummy painted for them. You know they had the coolest boxes in the whole class!

Yes, there was a bit of trepidation the first few minutes. They sat down in a big circle with 20+ other children. Only four of them were girls, so we hope the teachers are strong willed. :-) The reports we got from them afterwards was that both boys did very well. Conner's favortie part was playing with the cars, and Carson's was...snack time!

Here are the boys on a very unique swing. It was actually a design project that a KU student hung on campus. We weren't 100% sure it was supposed to be used, but it looked like it was built just for us, so we hopped on and went for a fun ride.

Three monkeys at the Topeka zoo. We have been so jazzed with the mild summer. It has allowed us to spend so much time outside without the fear of heat overload! Here's hoping for a long fall. Frosty winter can wait in the wings as long as it would like!
