Summer lovin

Hey there blog fans! This time last year, we were blogging about our trips to Chicago, Minnesota and the Lake. this summer, the primary focus remains the big, new backside we're putting on the house...

This may be one of the very last pictures of the upstairs playroom in tact. It is now stripped down to the studs, waiting to be transformed to our new master bedroom and bath. What a great sign the boys made for Daddy!

And here is Daddy being silly with Cousin Spencer (or Take It Easy Spencer as the boys call him) This is a teaser for the August blog when we hope to compile some fun pictures from our July 4th trip to the Pennsylvania Lake House.

But before going to the Lake, the boys took part in our neighborhood's awesome 4th of July parade. They decorated their scooters and wore signs on their back wishing folks a happy 4th. Pretty cool hats, huh?

Back to the house!! It has been quite an experience. We've been at it since June, but Mother Nature has slowed progress with several storms and the current brutal two-week heat wave.

To cut down on expenses, we've agreed to do most of the demolition ourselves. Lots of hard work, but we have to admit it is fun getting to beat on stuff and destroy it. What you see above is what's left of our kitchen. Below is a chronological look at the back yard from our neighbor's balcony.

That's about where we are now. Lots of work yet to go, and its not fun work to do in 100 degree weather. But when it gets done this fall, we will be happy campers. The boys are giddy excited about the work, and help out at every opportunity.

So, stay cool and enjoy the rest of your summer. We promise to update on our lake trip and the house project in the next entry. Only just over three weeks till school starts up again!
