Free St High for the whole fam

Bye now, summer!  We have a sophomore and a freshman.  Things are going well so far.  The boys have made the tough transition from a small middle school to a large high school.

Not surprisingly, Carson has jumped in with the cross country team and is doing well.  Free State High is the favorite to win the state this year, and as a lowly freshman, Carson has made it to the top of the junior varsity ranks.

Not surprisingly, Conner is pulling monsters out of the Lawrence lakes and ponds.  This one is the dreaded Asian Carp, which is an invasive species and local fishermen are encouraged to catch and not return them to the water...

Hard to tell, but the CNMs are in those cool bouncy ball things.  This was a fun carnival that Uncle Ted's company hosted.  It was cool to see where Uncle Ted works and what he builds.

We feel like we are well acquainted with the cross country family life, but this is definitely a step up.  The races are two or three hundred runners, and the practices are every day after school.  But bring it on, because Carson is loving it and it is a good group of students/coaches.

THis happened earlier in the year, but we didn't get to post it.  Conner got to fly in the super cool bi-plane that Mr. Van Wormer owns.  It was such a great experience!!

We also got to help Uncle Ted fix up one of his rental houses and got a delish dinner at Old Chicago for our efforts.

And here is the whole cousin crew enjoying Aunt Heather's lakefront.  We hope all our family and friends are enjoying the beginning of the new school year and the cooler weather!
