Spring has sprung!

No more snow!  Time for spring and all its outdoor activities.  We'll start with a pic of Carson's winning pinewood derby car.  Both boys won derby trophies this year.  We've come a long way from the first year where both cars were last in every race.  Carson won first place in the whole pack!

The boys love playing down by the Kansas river bank.  Here is a teepee made out of drift wood from one of our recent excursions.

And here is Conner on the outer banks with his friend Sawyer. They could have explored like this all day long, or longer if they had sleeping bags...

Maybe this is where they would have spent the night.  There are some interesting activities that go on by the river at night, so we'll probably stick to daytime explorations.

Conner the Rock Hound brought his scout den to the river and helped Den Leader Amy Phalen teach the scouts about fossils and rocks.  He loves it, and brought his entire pack of equipment with him.

Still climbing trees.  These were out in front of a bank, so we didn't climb too high.  Carson especially is a fan of tree heights.  He has just started outdoor soccer and track.  Two evenings a week, which thankfully is keeping him plenty busy.

The playground in our neighborhood park is still a favorite spot.  Not sure about the sanitary nature of the above exercise, but the boys loved getting buried and then coming out of the ground like zombies.

We had our long time buddy Mark Mathison over for a fancy dinner over spring break.  The boys took a sweet trip to the Cosmosphere and the Kansas Salt Mines over break.  So many great pictures that we decided the trip (and the St Patrick's Day Parade) deserve their own entry.  So stay tuned!
