New rooms for summer

The boys used to share this room, then they graduated to this room, then this room.  Together, we decided it was time they both got their own bedrooms.  Big move!

Conner got to choose which one he wanted, and he chose the one they'd been using as a playroom.  Smaller, but with more charm, than the bedroom they were sharing which is now Carson's.

The first year at St John's elementary is complete.  Both boys did well.  Above is the St John's 5K race, in which Carson placed top ten!

And while Carson was racing on the levy, Conner was--you guessed it--exploring the river bank.  Cool picture, right??  He was excited to show his teachers his gift for finding fossils.

This month, we said goodbye to Buffalo Bob's Steakhouse.  Only of siginificance because Daddy went there with his family after KU summer camps, and because Carson loved the animals on the walls.

We now officially have two Webelos scouts!  The boys are in two different packs, but are still enjoying all the activities.  Adds quite a bit to the chauffeur duties though...

Conner chose not to do outdoor soccer, but they are both planning to do futsol and b-ball in the fall.  Carson's soccer team was a special one this year, full of great kiddos.

After one of the games, we explored Clinton Lake and Carson found a friend named Spot.  Yup, Spot.  They became fast friends and tried in vain to wear each other out.

Conner, when it comes to furry friends, prefers the more laid back interactions, like sitting down with a good book and reading to Thneed while she positions herself in a shopping bag.

Graduation on campus is an exciting time.  The CNMS went to no fewer than three grad parties this day, one if which included the worlds largest inflatable Jayhawk.  Too cool!

Hard to tell, but father and son are about 30 feet up.  The Marsh family wishes you a great start to summer and smiles for everyone.

Rewind to March

 

In our excitement to document the spring break trip to Hutch, we neglected our annual Sandbar float adventure!!  This year the theme was 1920s beachwear...

The float was even taller than usual, so we got a birdseye view of the audience.  So much fun!  Ever thankful of our wonderful Sandbar buddies.

We rarely highlight rooms in the house on this site.  Here is our fun little formal living room.  Mummy has been looking high and low for just the right coffee table.  Hasn't found it yet, so in the mean time she got a vintage shipping box from the basement.  It is so cool!  Early F. Huddleston was the original owner, and he was VP of the Lawrence National Bank in the 1930s.  This shipping crate was his!!

Spring has been beautiful.  Lots of outdoor time.  We hope there is lots more before the weather starts heating up too much.  Here is Conner up in a tree again...

School has been great for the CNMs.  Science resources for Conner, track and cross country for Carson, academic rigor for both.  On sports fan day, they chose to wear their Chicago Cubs gear and cheese for the camera.

Still hanging out at the river on occasion.  One day, we watched a wicked cold front come in while still on the river banks.  Got pretty wet, but the cloud formations were so cool.  The boys asked nervously if they were tornados.

Can't believe it is time for summer to begin already!  We hope to keep both boys excessively active this summer so we don't suffer from the "I'm bored so I'm going to get in trouble" situation.
