Harvey's Lake 2022
Hurray for our Lake escape! Much needed break from the KS heat, much needed time with extended family, and much needed Harvey's Lake energy. Would you believe, thirty people this year?!
With so many grandkids, it is shocking that this summer is the only double high school graduation for at least ten years. Uncle Dan offered Conner his own event for achieving Eagle Scout, then hosted this grad celebration the next evening.
There were little ones everywhere! They played in the house, on the front lawn, in the lake and in the woods. Here is Carson chaperoning Mychal and Seneca.
Three cheers for Joe and his drone camera this year! Look at this Chamber of Commerce worthy shot. The weather was beautiful all week, with just a couple little rain storms that only limited us for an hour each time.
Would you believe there was less fishing this year? Conner discovered the joy of sailing our little sunfish. We would catch him looking for wind and jumping into the boat at the hint of a few gusts.
The shuffleboard court got cleared off this year, and it was a good thing. With 30 people, it is going to be important to have several spots to host activities. This court is a wonder, having survived well over 50 years in great shape.
Lots of porch time, and lots of little kid toys. With Conner starting his college years in a matter of weeks, Carson is seen here hinting at what his school of choice might be next year.
Thanks again to Joe for getting this great aerial shot of the house. We always say, "lake in the front yard, mountain in the back." Now we have a nice example of both. It was so hard to be there without Grandma this year. She got Covid less than a week before the trip. Not the same without her!!
There were a few musical concerts throughout the week. A couple piano concerts, a couple ukulele concerts. But of all the concerts, this one given for Aiden was...one of them.
Carson, Winchester and Rutherford. Discussing current affairs, no doubt. Carson decided this year the CNMs would make a lasagna for dinner. Lucky us, it was an evening with a more manageable number of eaters. No one could remember the last time lasagna was served at the Lake house. Thanks Mummy for the remote assistance!
Last couple days, it was just the CNMs, Uncle Ted, Uncle Dan and Aunt Meg. We chose to take a major hike which always seems to include pushing over dead trees. Totally safe, no worries at all.
We found the perfect vine for swinging. Perfect! It was over a ledge, which added to the danger. It was very thick, so even Uncle Ted and Dad did some swinging.. But Carson and Conner were absolute Tarzans with it.
What a spectacular vacation. The Lake is the most fantastic getaway, not just because it is beautiful, but because of the very special family members who convene each year. Now we prepare for the rest of the summer, for Conner's imminent college adventure and for Carson's senior year. Nazdrovia!
