Get thee behind me, winter!
Oh boy, it has been a cold February! A record two week period when the high was at or below 15 degrees. Here you see the boys trying to melt away the small area in the fish pond with a pot of boiling water. (keeps the fish alive over the winter)
As you can imagine, the weather kept us even more inside than we already were forced to be because of Covid. I know, this is not a good picture. But it represents a rare evening where the four of us played Apples to Apples together.
Even the thermometer was unhappy that we left it outside! Can you see the frowny face? More importantly, can you see the temp? Yup, that said ten degrees below zero.
Here is another example of creative ideas for indoor activities. The kid actually tried a face peel. Pretty funny looking, right?
Puzzles have made a big comeback! Bless our neighbors, Keith and Deborah. They have a subscription to Liberty Puzzles and have let us borrow them.
These things are amazing! They are made out of wood, right around 500 pieces, as you can see NO edge pieces, and they are very challenging to put together.
The boys have been up for the challenge. They love them. If you look closely, you'll see many of the pieces are shaped like people or animals. Seriously, these puzzles are spectacular. They have been the perfect prescription for our cabin fever.
Early in the month, our KC Chiefs made it to their second straight Superbowl. We had to do our own little four-person party, but had a nice time except that the Chiefs lost bigtime...
Very happy to say that as the month concludes, we are coming out of the freezing temps and are getting lots of signs that spring is coming. Remote school is still going well, jobs are too. Let's get everyone vaccinated so there can be a return to semi-normalcy by the summer!!!
