Summer in Place
It seems like 100 years since the CNMs visited Grandma in Marco Island. Yet the blog says it was one quick puzzle entry ago. We have completed the school year at home and are now beginning Summer 2020 at home. It sure was nice for the boys to dress up for Easter dinner! Mummy made a feast!
It has been a historically challenging time for everyone, right? Mummy and Dad celebrated their 19th wedding anniv in quarantine, and today is Mummy’s b-day. The celebrations aren’t the same, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t celebrate.
Fishing. To no one’s surprise, fishing has kept Conner going through the pandemic. What a perfect activity during quarantine! This impressive Drum was caught at the Clinton Lake spillway. One of his favorite spots.
Yard work. Honestly, it has been a bit of a surprise that one of the things keeping Carson going through quarantine has been back yard projects. The yard has never looked better, for real!
While Carson has been the primary yard worker, Conner has joined in too. He is somewhat hidden high in the pine tree. That tree has to go, because it is located directly between our home and our neighbor’s, and it is just getting too big. Conner may not be able to take it down, but he thinned it out nicely, without injury!
Mummy has continued to provide healthy meals for her boys. Carson has enjoyed helping on occasion, and did most of the work for this lovely outdoor salad dinner. The weather was so fantastic during our first two months at home. Thank goodness for that.
We had a major setback in May. Carson woke up in serious pain and after consulting with our urologist neighbor, we took him to the ER. Not a place you want to be during a pandemic! A few tense hours later, that same urologist did surgery on him for testicular torsion. He took it like a champ, and although it really slowed him down for a while, it is three weeks later and he is running and biking at full speed.
Happy anniversary, happy Mothers Day, happy birthday...the flowers have been plentiful because of the great weather and the increased yard time. The family has fared pretty darn well during this crazy time, and we have our town and our neighborhood to thank. But we can also take pride in the fact that in this unprecedented time with more questions than answers, we are getting through it together.
We can also thank our families for happiness during this time. Mema and Grandpa hosted a birthday gathering for Mummy, and here are the boys enjoying the awesome backyard at Uncle Ted’s. Our thoughts are with family and friends as we hopefully begin a return to normalcy. Our hope for everyone is that the new normal is welcome and prosperous.
