Introducing the new additions

Kittens!!  Two little 8 week-old girls.  Adorable, right?  They came to us from a nearby farm and their two siblings are living with a KU colleague of Daddy's.  They are happy, healthy and super playful.

Did we mention they love the boys?  The one giving Carson a kiss is long haired and extraordinarily soft.  We thought for sure this is what a Dr. Suess truffula tree would feel like.  So we named her Thneed!  (it's a fine something that everyone needs!)  The other cutie is shorter haired and is named Smink, which is a word the boys made up years ago as a catch-all verb.

Summer is in full swing, and while we are spending lots of time playing with Smink and Thneed, we're also staying busy with day camps, swimming pool visits and other summer activities.  Here are the boys relaxing with Lucy after a dip in Super Dave and Super Deb's awesome pool.

Now it is a little hard to say how Slider the turtle feels about our new additions to the Marsh household.  She lives in an outdoor aquarium in the back yard.  If you click on this picture, you'll see she is having a play date with a toad from the fish pond!  Would this be called a piggyback ride?

Conner has had some day camps with his friends Max and Levi, and Carson has just finished a day camp with his buddy Ben.  While their camp did not focus on chasing bubbles in the backyard, we're pretty sure there could be such a camp, and it would be a big hit.

We haven't mentioned this on the blog yet, but if you click on this picture you might notice that Carson has braces!  We've been told that Conner's teeth are in good shape, and the money we save on his mouth we will likely spend on Carson's...

It has been a lovely start to Summer 2013.  Smink and Thneed are wonderful siblings to each other and to Conner and Carson.  All four youngsters are treating each other with kindness which significanlty enhances the happiness quotient in the Marsh household!
