Spring Break!!
Hey there, friends! Two little Gilligans would like to report on their eventful spring break. Not the warmest spring break we've ever had, but it was eventful! Our annual adventure on the Sandbar float (Gilligans Island theme this year) for the St. Patty's Day parade was colder than usual, but still memorable.
Do all our Kansas City area friends recognize this ceiling? The CNMs went to Union Station to enjoy a visit to Science City. There is so much to see there that every visit is new and exciting.
The newest exhibit was "Unplugged" which showed all the alternate ways to create electricity. We are pretty sure Carson could have lit every light in Union Station if they let him stay on this human hamster wheel long enough.
It is a little hard to make out, but the boys are pictured above doing a pretend dinosaur dig in black sand. They loved it, and uncovered some very cool bones. But also came home with black sand in all sorts of odd places...
How cool is this?! It is called Skyzone and it is a huge building filled with trampolines. None of the three CNMs wanted to leave this uber-bouncey place! The boys are pictured here as little blurs playing trampoline dodgeball.
One day of break, we trekked to Leavenworth to see Gamilee, the boys great-grandmother. After a nice visit with her, we saw the Oz movie and then checked out the LV Community Building, in the old train station on the banks of the Missouri River. The boys are on a statue made to look like a wrecked train.
At one point, walking along the river, Carson dropped his treasured medal for one of his 5K races. It bounced down the rocks and fell 15 feet below, somewhere in the creek that fed into the river. Here is a picture of the general area it fell. We thought for sure that it was gone forever. Look closely...
Did you see it? Here is a closer view. The darn thing was mud colored, and just as Daddy was going to give up looking, it caught his eye half-hidden and very well camouflaged!
We also got a great Kras Connection visit during the week. These four little firecrackers have been gathering a handful of times per year since they came to America in 2006. Truly comrades!!
On a rare day of decent weather, we ventured down to the Kansas River in North Lawrence. We found a really cool rock plateau which was almost safe to climb. If you look really close you can see safety equipment being used. Kind of.
We'll close with a fun picture of Carson's indoor soccer (futsol) team. Conner played too (excellent goalie!!) but we got this picture because Carson't parents served as coach. Mummy was the super duper director of operations, and really should have been pictured!
