Bye bye back porch
One of the boys' Mother's Day cards. Yes, the Coke cans are a primary component of the card. In fact, they are glued on to the paper! They know how much both parents love the stuff. Check out this semi-random pic of the Kras Connection at Chris's b-day party.
Want hours of productive entertainment for your overactive kiddos? Ask them to wash the car with a water cannon! Ok, they still liked the hose better, but Daddy kept hogging it.
Hard to see here, but Carson is sporting an impressive knot on BOTH sides of his head. On Mother's Day eve, we were attending an end-of-year party at their school and he ran full steam into a tetherball pole on the playground. ER room visit and everything! No stitches, and he is recovering well.
Ah, the screened in porch. Above, you see it no longer screened in. This was the first major project of our impending home addition. Mema and Grandpa came to offer assistance, and thanks in large part to them, it came down pretty smoothly. Here is a pictoral chronology:
The boys were eager to "help."
Down to one roof support, and we pause to strategize...
Man, that thing was a lot heavier than we expected!!
A true group effort to take the roof and floor apart.
Tah dah! Even found a fancy foundation stone hidden under the porch. Not to mention the bones of several animals that chose the porch as their final resting place.
And here is where the bones of the porch found their final resting place. We still have quite a bit to do before we can begin the addition, but we surely hope next month's blog will have a couple pics of the progress! Enjoy the last month of spring, and here's hoping Summer 2011 is superb!
