School, airplanes and b-days

Howdy! Here are two very grown up boys preparing for their first days of Fall 2010. Big, big changes in our world this year. Conner is a 1st grader and Carson a kindergartener. Our school does all-day kindergarten, so both boys leave us Mon thru Fri (early release Wed).

Pretty happy dudes in the car heading to Pinkney elementary. They have been watching out for each other the first month. We understand that one will frequently ask the teachers at reccess if they have seen his brother in the yard.

The obligatory pic of the new kindergartener in front of the Pinkney Elementary sign. Remember Conner's? Carson came a bit more prepared than Conner, since he used to ask us to copy Conner's homework almost every day so he could do it alongside his older bro.

Every morning, our school does a K-thru-4th assembly in the gym to start the day. The boys position themselves strategically to be close to one another in their respective class lines. Also important to report that they BOTH have little female classmates they are fond of...

Oh, wow. A definite highlight of our late summer was flying in the single prop at the Van Warmer's house! This is our friend Jill's dad who lives close to the boys' grandparents and has a hanger and runway at his home!

First Carson went up, with his brother watching closely...

Then Conner followed. They both loved it, but Mummy and Daddy wonder if they really understand what a rare treat they were given. Mr. Van Warmer said next year: the Ultralight!

It was such a trip sitting in the allbeit expansive V.W. backyard watching the boys take off and land. Many thanks to the boys' superstar pilot who landed the plane so gently each time.

Happy b-day Carson! For the next month, we have two six year olds. Carson had some very specific instructions for his cake. Yellow star in the middle, ballon on the back, white cake with chocolate frosting, and a strawberry in the center. His wish was Mummy's command.

And boy, did he clean up on presents!! Remote control race car, big red fire truck, spider man truck/boat/jet, the list goes on. Happy kid. We had his grandparents over on Sept 11th for this party. It was an overly exciting day because...

Before the party, Daddy took the boys to a tailgate party prior to the Jayhawks HUGE football victory over #15 Georgia Tech. Riding down Mt. Oread in a wagon, entertaining throngs of tailgaters, the boys accidently steered their craft into a parking lot and crashed. Carson had a bloody nose, Conner a bloody lip. The nose was fine in a few minutes, but as evidenced by the above unhappy pic, Conner required two stitches from an E.R. doctor. Took it like a stud!
