Two eight year olds!
Hey there! Here's Conner hanging out on a park bench. He's going to open the September blog, which will highlight the very first (you heard right) big b-day party for one of our boys.
Happy birthday, Carson! Actually, we can't say it was a big birthday party. We went to a local community building that has a gymnastics room. Only big enough for a few buddies, but Carson is a big fan of tumbling and gymnastics, so we had a blast.
Lots of jumping, climbing, balancing, swinging and in the case of the above picture with buddy Ben...just hanging!
One of the challenges was to climb a rope to the top of the building and ring a cowbell perched at the end of the rope. Here are both brothers making it to the tippy top--a feat neither parent remembers being able to do at their age...
Pop rocks!! A crowd favorite. Simon, Ben, Carson and Max show off the tongue-tingling effects of the candy. We really should have taken a pic of the adults who were doing this too!
After the friends b-day party, we had the grandparents over for dinner and cake. It was really cool that Aunt Meg (of the famous New York Marshes) was in town for the event too!
Ok, there were some non-birthday activities this month too. Here are the boys at a car show with Uncle Ted. It looks like Conner found the one he wanted to bring home.
The Kras Connection!!! We visited the Parrack family over Memorial Day weekend and had a nice time. Like many of our Kansas City friends and family, we don't see them enough. The boys are getting so big! Anyone remember when they were this size??
So, our little fellas are both eight years old for a few weeks. We wish they would slow down with their growing up, and some days we wish they would just slow down. Next month holds Conner's b-day at a nature center, Haloween and all the wonders of Fall.

I am obviously pleased with Carson's choice of birthday party venues. Next time I come to KC, I am taking those guys to open gym somewhere so I can show them my (now geriatric) skills.
Pictures of birthday cakes made by Rochelle always make me drool. That frosting looks so yummmmmmmmmy!
