Harvey's Lake 2015
Hey there! Time to document our tubin, swimmin, fishin happiness that was the Marsh summer lake trip.
Here are seven children posing in front of the welcome sign. Add this crew to the New York Marsh family, and you have one very full house of happy lake enthusiasts.
This year, the CNMs flew in to New York City, then rented a car and drove to PA. Daddy was more than a little nervous about driving in and out of NYC, but it went pretty smoothly, and we got this cool shot of the city from our seats on the plane!
Here is our little slice of serenity at the lakefront. It is just across the street from the house, and is located on the quietest part of the lake.
There were a couple rain showers here and there, but the weather was primarily sunny and awesome. The rain gave us some time on the porch. Carson is reading to cousin Faith, with cousin Ranger sitting on his lap with a slick Elvis shirt on.
You know there was plenty of fishing! Here is master fisher Conner displaying his bounty during some early evening fishing. The headlamp is a must for this activity.
More goofing with the cousins on the porch. Look towards the top right and you'll see the balloon that Conner just let fly into the air.
The boys really love tubing. Ok, who doesn't? Here they are stylin on the tube before getting thrown around the lake by Uncle Dan.
Here is the back yard! We always save some time to hike the woods, but this year there was a hitch... A bear was spotted walking around the property!! It was the first time any of us had seen one, and some of us have been coming to the lake for decades...
We enjoyed looking through some historic lakehouse stuff. Here is a cool 100 year old telegram sent to the father-in-law of Curtis Marsh Sr (who built the house). A very cordial note from the man who had just beaten him in a campaign for mayor. Classy politics of the past...
You can imagine what a challenge it is to feed 15-20 people each night. Daddy and Grandma fixed up this pasta and salad bar when it was their evening to cook.
As is the case every year, it was a wonderful week with family, a cool break from the Kansas heat, and lots of water sports. What a great time! The trip back through NYC went smoothly, thank goodness.
When the CNMs arrived back home in Lawrence, their Mummy and their kittens made it clear they were missed, and that they were not to leave again any time soon.
