The roller coaster continues
Carson is warming up to that big guy that plays with him.
Today we were able to go and see the boys again. Carson was great again. He always cries when the nurse that brings him in, but it has been less every day. Mommy scoops him up and starts rubbing his back and he is done with the crying. Today, it felt like he might have remembered us, and he acted like he might cry when he had to leave with the nurse. He is SO smart. We know that parents always think that of their kids, but he can do all kinds of little tricks that we had not seen before.

Don’t they have anything in Boy Colors???
The “Distracting Couple” was still at Conner’s orphanage, so we played outside again. The orphanage workers added a coat to the snow suit this time. He was SO hot, he kept trying to take everything off. I think that he might not have felt well today, he was more subdued and his chest just gurgles. It’s awful to hear. So far, he still doesn’t understand that we are parents. We are just two people that keep hanging around, entertaining him occasionally, and stopping him from doing some of the crazy stuff that he wants to do. He is also very smart and knows how and when to thwart our efforts. We are very worried about how to handle him, both now and on the flight home. We had an interpreter with us today, so he talked much more than we had ever heard.
We’ve heard the news about the terrorist plots, and are pretty concerned about how it will affect our already daunting trip home. We are also concerned for the families that leave today (in a few hours) to come to Kras. Please make it here safe!
We start each morning reading your comments. Thank you for every one of them. Your comments and our ice cold Cokes are our only comforts of home!

Although the lines have been long at security in U.S. airports, I don't think there have been major disruptions except for flights between the U.S. and Britain. Hopefully you are not flying through there. The big thing has been no liquids in carryon luggage, so if you're bringing back any shampoo or stuff like that, pack it in checked luggage. Apparently there has been some spotty banning of electronics too, so if you're forced to check your cameras, don't forget to remove the memory cards and tapes to your carryons! The devices can be replaced but the images and footage are priceless!
We are cracking up for so many reasons... One we recognize Carson's shoes - those are the shoes they always put Ben in. It kills me because they have to be too small. I can't evan imagine how many children have worn those shoes. Then we are cracking up at the coat that Conner has on - you have got to be kidding me. You really can't believe how much they bundle them up until you are there to see it first hand. It is crazy. Just know they will be yours in a matter of days and you can dress them in whatever you want in... in ONE WEEK!!!
Can't wait to talk to you guys!!

R&C,
OK,I'm finally able to sit and read and more importantly catch up. First I must say, there's far too many people involved here. Where's the "index" with bio and photos of all these friends? Your support network is so vast now, I can't keep them all straight....
But suffice it to say, that I'll do my best to sift through all this breaking news and get to the point.....it's actually happened!! Man, oh man! Can you believe it?
I bet this entire experience is so unnerving and un-normal that "home" takes on a completely new appeal. As another famous Kansan said, "There's no place like home. There's no place like home."
As I'm sure these days are tedious and dragging by, it will seem but a blur when you reflect on this a year from now.
Speaking of "tedious", life in the non-normal world of weddings is it's usual psycho self. The knot of a 6,000 Reem's bow, was supposedly off center by 2". What shall we do? What shall we ever do? I had to zoom to the mansion in Mission Hills to inspect the "damage" only to discover that it is not centered because it simply overlaps the zipper. If it were dead center, she wouldn't be able to get her leg in the dress, the zipper would be too short. To pacify themselves, they made me haul her 9 maids' dresses to the attic for storage.....no railing, no lights, but plenty of heat and cobwebs and 3 stories up. People!
New employees still have me duped into thinking they're great, though they're a little tired of hearing the "Rochelle stories." Too bad. It's just starting. BTW, when is your Maternity Leave up?
I hope this isn't like a cell phone and you pay the most for those that talk the longest from out of town! Naturally it would be me.
(No hot water? Gross. EL says it sounds like "Little House on the Prairie.") Love to my favorite new Ma and Pa! MJ
